A clear, step-by-step onboarding guide to set up your hardware wallet, secure your recovery phrase, and manage your assets with confidence.

Store your keys offline

Keep private keys isolated from the internet — transactions are signed on the device, never exposed to your computer or the web.

Recover with confidence

Set up a recovery phrase and a strong PIN. Recover your accounts safely even if the device is lost or damaged.

Manage many assets

Support for major cryptocurrencies and tokens, plus integrations with wallets and DeFi apps for flexible access.

Get started in four simple steps

1

Unbox and power on

Open the sealed package, connect the device via USB or Bluetooth (depending on model), and follow the on-screen prompts to begin setup.

2

Create a new wallet

On first boot, choose “Create a new wallet”. Choose a secure PIN and confirm it. This PIN protects access to the device itself.

3

Write down your recovery phrase

Write the recovery phrase (24 words) exactly as shown — in order, on paper or a metal backup. Store the backup in a safe place (not online).

4

Install Ledger Live and apps

Download Ledger Live to add accounts, install blockchain apps, and start sending/receiving. Confirm each transaction on the device screen before approving.

Security best practices

Security is a process, not a product. Here are practical guidelines to reduce risk:
